A little more order. A little more room.

Remember a little.
Find the file.

That proposal. Last month’s invoice. The note with a forgotten name.
You don’t need to remember where. Just remember something.

This is a website demo. Real results come from folders you authorize and index in Shelf.

FROM A CLUE TO A FILE

Forget the folder.
Remember the thought.

Shelf brings search and organization together, so the files you’ve collected make sense again.

01

Choose your space

Set up your own OpenRouter API key, then authorize folders through the system picker. Shelf builds an index within the scope you choose.

02

Let content find its place

Shelf discovers categories and projects from file contents. Categories are views in the index. Original files keep their names and locations.

03

Remember it. Search for it.

Press ⌥ Space and type a filename or a clue. Open the original, preview it, or jump to its location in Finder.

AT HOME IN FINDER

A new sense of order.
The same old originals.

Enable the Shelf folder to browse categories and projects in Finder. Each entry is an alias pointing to an original, bringing Shelf’s organization into the way you already work.

Rearranging aliases in the Shelf folder can update categories too. Deleting an alias does not delete the original.

CLEAR INFORMATION. YOUR CHOICE.

Your files.
Your scope. Your switches.

Your index stays on your Mac. AI features send relevant file text and search descriptions directly to OpenRouter. Semantic search and online organization can each be disabled in settings.

Read-only source access

No moving, renaming, or deleting originals. The optional Finder folder is a separately authorized output location.

Your key, in Keychain

Your own OpenRouter API key is stored in this Mac’s Keychain. Model requests do not pass through a Shelf server.

Know what is sent

Filenames, text chunks or excerpts, and search descriptions are sent depending on the feature. Cloud AI involves off-device processing.

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW

Before you make room for Shelf.

Will Shelf move my files?

No. Source folders are read and indexed. Categories live in the index. The optional Shelf folder contains Finder aliases, while originals stay in their existing locations.

What do I need for AI features?

Your own OpenRouter API key and available credits. Model usage is billed to your OpenRouter account, separately from any app price. Some organization features also depend on third-party API availability for your account.

Does file content leave my Mac?

Yes. When AI features are enabled, relevant text is sent directly to OpenRouter and its providers. Our privacy policy describes the data sent by each feature. You can disable AI and retain keyword search over an existing local index.

Can I search offline or after removing my key?

An existing local index remains available for keyword search and rule-based categorization. Semantic search and online organization require a working connection and key. The current first-run flow requires key setup.

Where can I download Shelf?

Shelf is preparing for its Mac App Store launch. A download link will appear here once it is available. This website does not currently distribute the app or take payments.

Next time, remember just a little.

Keep your attention on what’s ahead. Let Shelf help you find what’s already there.
