Things to try first
I can’t find Shelf after opening it
Shelf is a menu bar app. Look for its icon at the top of your screen, then open Search or Settings. The default shortcut is ⌥ Space and can be changed in settings.
Semantic search or organization is unavailable
Revalidate your key in Settings › Model service. Check your OpenRouter credits and privacy settings. You can disable each AI feature separately; access to the Jev API can affect online organization.
A previously selected folder is inaccessible
Check source authorization in settings and reselect the folder with the system picker if needed. Moving folders, unmounting a disk, or changing system permissions can invalidate access.
I want to stop reading a folder
Revoke its authorization in source settings. Shelf stops watching and removes that source’s index without deleting originals. Files covered by another authorized source may still be indexed.
I want to disable AI or remove my key
Disable semantic search and online organization in model settings, or remove your saved key. Removing a local key does not revoke it at OpenRouter; revoke it there separately if needed.
